I love it when I receive gifts from someone who has put a little extra thought into the detail of the gift, like homemade wrapping paper, a hand drawn card, or something their personal touch. This bow is an easy way to do that, plus it looks fantastic!

Anchor Bracelet {adinserter Middle Post Ad}

I’m not sure what it is about summer time, but it sure increases my love for all things nautical. I can’t get enough anchors! Art work, jewelry, throw pillows, bring it on! I really like this bracelet because it looks a little high end to me, and the thread is an unexpected element that lets you add your personal touch! Make two or three and stack them on wrist, or just one by itself would be cute! Happy DIY-ing!

How to transfer a Photo to Wood!

Love these DIY ideas as much as we do? Stay up to date on our latest findings by liking our facebook page at Home and Heart DIY Facebook!

I’ve been looking to do something like this with our wedding pictures, oh,  going on six years now (don’t judge). In looking at how much it costs to get it done professionally, I always have second thoughts, thinking that I’ll wait to find something more affordable. Well that has yet to happen – until today! This is an extremely affordable alternative to paying someone to do it for you.

You’ll need:

  • a photo printed on card stock
  • sandpaper
  • a block of wood
  • Mod Podge
  • eyelet hooks (spray painted black if desired)
  • a piece of pretty ribbon

This is so simple to do. I plan on finally hanging up some wedding photos!! Visit The Winthrop Chronicles to see how to do this!

DIY Bejeweled Collar

The collar is something that is being played up more and more – especially for the fast approaching fall season. There are even collar necklaces out there – which I happen to love! This DIY takes an old unused thing (CD’s!) and dresses up a shirt to look like new!

Take some old CD’s, and soak them in water for 10-15 minutes. Take them out of the water and with a pair of scissors, begin to cut your CD into pieces, as big or as small as you’d like. As you cut, you’ll notice that the CD will start to separate, there will be a holographic layer and clear layer, throw the clear layer away and only use the holographic pieces. Arrange the pieces first on the collar before glueing. Then using a super glue, or embellishing glue, apply glue to the bottom side of piece, place it on the collar and press firmly. Do this until the collar is covered.

I Saw the Sign

I found two super easy ways to make a great sign for your home! I love the customizability of creating your own. Choose the lyrics to an old song, or your favorite poem, and display it where you can always see it. They look fabulous and are so simple!

This first DIY adds another layer to creating your sign. You pick old newspaper, pages from a book or magazine and stick them to the canvas first. After you follow all the steps, you have that peek-a-boo texture popping out, instead of boring white. So clever, Southern Belle Soul, Mountain Bride Heart!

Sign1

This DIY from Brassy Apple is similar to the first, in that all the steps are pretty much the same with the exception of what is peeking out from the letters. She uses fabric! I love this idea because you can hand pick a beautiful pattern that works perfectly with the room you’re hanging it in!

sign2

I also really like the idea of doing this with an old (even ugly) mirror. It would save you a step, and it would still look amazing! If you make these, let us know how they turned out!

Happy DIY-ing!
